Marble & Granite Kitchen Backsplashes
What Is a Kitchen Backsplash (and Why Marble or Granite)?
A kitchen backsplash protects walls from splashes and heat—and doubles as a major design feature. Marble backsplashes deliver elegant veining and a bright, upscale look, while granite backsplashes add rugged beauty, rich color, and superior durability.
Key Benefits of Stone Backsplashes
- Heat & scratch resistance: Ideal behind ranges and cooktops.
- Long-lasting value: Natural stone stays beautiful for decades.
- Luxury aesthetics: One-of-a-kind patterns and veining.
- Versatile styles: Works with modern, transitional, and traditional kitchens.
The Timeless Appeal of Natural Stone
Marble and granite have been the standard of iconic architecture for centuries. In kitchens, these stones instantly upgrade the room with a look that is classic yet current, making your backsplash a focal point that complements cabinetry, countertops, and hardware.
Unique Colors, Veins & Patterns
No two slabs are the same.
- Marble backsplash ideas: Soft whites and grays, dramatic Calacatta-style veining, subtle pinks/greens for character.
- Granite backsplash ideas: Deep charcoals and blacks, earthy browns and golds, bold speckled movement for visual interest.
Result: A one-of-a-kind installation that synthetic materials can’t replicate.
Performance: Durability, Heat Resistance & Hygiene
- Durability: Granite is exceptionally hard and chip-resistant; marble is durable with mindful care.
- Heat resistance: Both perform well behind ranges and ovens without warping or discoloration.
- Easy care: With proper sealing, clean using a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth.
- Hygienic when sealed: Helps resist stains, moisture, and bacterial absorption.
Sustainability Considerations
- Natural material: Lower synthetic processing vs. man-made options.
- Longevity: Fewer replacements = less waste.
- Timeless look: Less likely to be “dated,” reducing remodel churn

FAQ - Stone Backsplash Projects
Yes—no grout lines, a seamless look, and maximum stone impact..
Yes, when properly sealed and maintained; consider a protective shelf or pot filler to manage splatter.
Granite is more stain-resistant than many stones; good sealing + quick wipe-ups are key.
Polished amplifies light and veining; honed is modern and forgiving with fingerprints.
I called the company immediately. A repair was completed on 7/17, but it only made things worse—the filler was flaking and the patches were more noticeable than the original damage. I made multiple follow-up calls (7/17, 7/18, and 7/24) and was told each time that a manager would call me back. For weeks, I received no response.
At the same time, I noticed that the counter to the left of my stove was visibly uneven, something I hadn’t even been able to report yet due to the lack of follow-up.

Eventually, I did receive a call back from the owner, and while our initial conversation was heated and disappointing, I’m grateful that he and his team ultimately took the time to come out, re-evaluate, and take responsibility for the situation.
It was confirmed that the piece to the left of the stove had been cut incorrectly and would be replaced. While the repair to the island was passable, I realized I would never feel fully satisfied with it—especially since it’s the focal point of my kitchen. I found myself always pointing it out before others noticed, and I ultimately decided to replace the island completely to remove that lingering frustration.
Both pieces were replaced, and the installers were professional, clean, and kind throughout the process. The new countertops look beautiful, and I can finally enjoy my kitchen the way I had originally hoped.
While the experience started off rough and frustrating, the company did make it right in the end. That follow-through—and their willingness to hear me out—earned this updated review.

Dennis & Sherrill
The office staff was courteous, professional & knowledgeable. The 3 men who arrived to complete the order request were on time, very polite, & thoroughly explained the process of my order. They had to enlarge the opening on the granite at the sink area to accommodate a new faucet, plus clean, buff and polish all the granite in the kitchen area, and the master bathroom area.
I am very pleased with the results, and would absolutely highly recommend this company!
Best regards,
Sandy S.
